Made from 1984 to 1988 in West Germany as it was then, on behalf of Vauxhall / Opel. Based on Cavalier SRi / CDi mechanicals is quite a rare sight on British roads. A mere 1283 were imported into the UK out of a total build of approx 3500. The car featured is
my own car and is slightly modified cosmetically from standard specification.
Manufacturing was undertook at three locations;
Hammond and Thiede, Keinath and Voll.
My car was manufactured at Hammond and Thiede. The vast majority of cars were
produced at H & T, about 100 cars were produced at Voll but approx 500 were built at Keinath. These cars had a different specification to the norm and the interiors were more luxurious. (See interiors).
Keinath is the only remaining company as the others have folded, Keinath still produces specialised sports cars.
